The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is a unitary parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy.
The United Kingdom consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Their capitals are London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast, respectively.
The City of London is a city and local government district that contains the historic centre and the primary central business district of London. The City has a resident population of 9,401 but over 500,000 are employed there, and some estimates put the number of workers in the city to be over 1 million. The City has no sizeable parks within its boundary, but does have a network of a large number of gardens and small open spaces, many of them maintained by the Corporation. These range from formal gardens such as the one in Finsbury Circus, containing a bowling green and bandstand, to churchyards such as St Olave Hart Street, to water features and artwork in courtyards and pedestrianised lanes. The City has an oceanic climate modified by the Urban Heat Island in the centre of London.
